Hard Disk Drive Operation Life Determination
Practically in each hard disk drive there is a timer that increases its value by one unit for the period defined by the manufacturer, thus enabling the determination of the quantity of the hours fulfilled by a hard disk drive since the moment of its manufacture. However the timer period of different manufacturers differs. For example: "Seagate " - one time an hour, "Maxtor " - one time a minute, "Samsung " - one time each 30 seconds, "Fujitsu " - 3600 times an hour, etc. These values vary, and sometimes rather considerably, even for one and the same model of one and the same manufacturer. Thus, instant definition of the quantity of the hours fulfilled by a hard disk drive is obviously not possible. "SMART HDD " analyzes the value of the timer within 1 hour and calculates the quantity of the hours fulfilled by the hard disk drive basing on its frequency.
